Why fineness counts for platinum

Platinum looks confusingly similar to white gold and silver, but it is considerably heavier and usually very pure. That is why at our platinum purchase in Berlin it is not the impression that counts, but the measurement.

Reading hallmarks: how to recognize platinum

Platinum looks very similar to white gold and silver but is much heavier. The hallmark states the share in thousandths: Pt 950 means 95 percent platinum. Common marks are 950, 900 and 850. We pay for the platinum content, not the weight of the whole piece.

Look at the letters: Pt or Plat stand for platinum, the number alone can also mean silver or gold. A missing hallmark is no proof against precious metal. We also measure unstamped pieces and show you the result on the monitor.
